Technology Commercialization

The final step of an enterprise technology management system designed to provide sustaining income is the commercialization of technologies that result from internal or partnered development efforts. Commercialization may take the form of outright sale of the underlying intellectual property (IP), licensing of rights to exploit the IP, or securing an equity stake in a start up created to commercialize the technology. In each approach, it is important for the enterprise to obtain reliable valuation estimates; to evaluate the capabilities of potential buyers, licensees or commercial partners; and to establish an ongoing process to monitor implementation success. The Intersect Insight team has been involved in technology commercialization in a variety of enterprise settings, and is prepared to assist clients to develop and operate this component of their enterprise sustainability program.
